Why is the Capitol Important?
Believe it or not Michigan’s citizens once thought about tearing down our State Capitol building because they wanted to build something more modern! Tour the Capitol and learn how architects, engineers, historians, preservationists and even a few kids like you work together to recreate the beauty of Michigan’s 1879 Capitol. Wear comfortable shoes!
As we will be leaving the museum building, parents are welcomed to join us. Dress for walking and the weather conditions.
Students meet in the Morris Learning Center. This program is geared to children at a 4th grade level and up.
