Mitten: Sojourner Truth
Sojourner Truth was a former slave who was freed in 1826 and began her journey across the North to discuss the evils of slavery. She was also a strong advocate for women’s rights, and a powerful public speaker. This edition features part of her “ain’t I am woman?” speech, as well as information on the monument and museums in Battle Creek.
