Port Sanilac Civil War Days

Port Sanilac, on the shores of Lake Huron in Michigan’s Thumb, will be the site of a weekend-long event commemorating the US Civil War.

Port Sanilac Civil War Days will take place August 6 and 7, 2011, on the grounds of the Sanilac County Historic Village and Museum.  Hosted by the Port Sanilac Downtown Development Authority, in conjunction with the 21st Michigan Volunteer Infantry, Company H, the event promises a wide array of activities of Civil War buffs of all ages.  This is the second year for this event.

Saturday, August 7 the festivities begin at 10:00 am and continue on into the evening.  Sunday, August 8 there will be activities from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm.  All events will take place in the mansion and village of the Sanilac County Historical Village and Museum (www.sanilaccountymuseum.org) in beautiful Port Sanilac, MI (www.portsanilac.com).

There is no charge to visitors who wish to participate, so round up the family and come join in the fun.  Check out our web site of the event (http://portsanilaccivilwardays.vpweb.com/default.html). Don’t forget the Grand Ball, free to all participants, featuring the Golden Griffon Stringtet with dance caller, Linda Dunham.
