The Archives of Michigan is pleased to announce its first-ever Genealogy Lock-In, a free event to be held July 12, 2013 from 6p-10p.
Timed to coincide with the Abrams Genealogy Seminar, on Friday, July 12 – Saturday, July 13 and featuring Dr. Thomas W. Jones, the Archives will be open to Lock-In registrants from 6p-10p. Pizza and refreshments will be available to registrants from 5p-6p. Please note that, although there is no additional fee, the Lock-In does require a separate registration from the Abrams Seminar.
This event will highlight the Archives’ genealogy collections, including the Abrams Foundation Historical Collection and original Michigan source documents. Staff will be available to assist in the use of the collections and to offer guidance as needed.
The Archives’ computers will be available for free access to the subscription databases Ancestry and HeritageQuest, as well as free sites like Seeking Michigan and FamilySearch. Laptops are permitted and access to the Archives’ wireless network will be available as well.
