21st Michigan reenactors joined by the 3rd Michigan will encamp on the lawn of the Ionia Courthouse the weekend of Sept. 7-9, 2012. Includes a dedication ceremony, demonstrations, drills, living history, tour of the courthouse, a march to Old Camp Sigel east of town for rededication of a historical plaque, a band concert on the courthouse lawn, and a Civil War Era dance on Main Street. Ionia Theatre will feature a free showing at 4pm of Ken Burn’s “Civil War” episode on Sherman’s march to the sea. Sunday morning at 9:30am the Ionia First United Methodist Church across the street offers a Civil War era worship service with Pastor Larry Brown.
